Working practices

Archaeology provides more than 7000 jobs, contributes over £100m to the UK economy every year and employs highly skilled specialists in a diverse range of fields across the private, public and third sectors.

The practice of archaeology is constantly evolving and so are the organisations and structures that support it. A strong sector requires these organisations, which include professional institutions, trade bodies and trade unions, to work effectively and collaborately. The Industry Working Group brings together CIfA, FAME and Prospect for this purpose and provides a mechanism for coordinating efforts to improve the working environment for archaeologsts.
