The Francis Crick Institute are collaborating with archaeologists on developing sampling strategies where any data we generate on sex, ancestry, relatedness and disease can help to address outstanding site-specific, regional or national-scale research questions. We would welcome discussions with Registered Organisations of CIfA who will find that we follow familiar guidelines on ethics and destructive sampling. These are issued by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Advisory Panel on the Archaeology of Burials in England (APABE) and further details are attached. We will provide information gathered during this research to Registered Organisations who take part. We support this information being used in analysis and publication (eg public outreach, articles, monographs), even where this pre-empts our own publication plans.
