CIfA has been liaising closely with HS2 and sector partners including FAME, Historic England and the Archaeology Training Forum to help develop the sector’s response to the challenges and opportunities afforded by HS2 and other national infrastructure developments. Discussions are ongoing but CIfA will continue to take every opportunity to contribute, focussing on the linked issues of professional standards, sector capacity and skills development.
An article written by the HS2 team for CIfA will be published in our e-bulletin at the end of this month describing how the historic environment research and delivery strategy is being developed, focussing on transformation and innovation. The strategy is due for publication in March this year.
In the meantime, the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) is organising a ‘meet the bidder’ day on 3 February to facilitate engagement between the companies bidding for tier 1 contracts and the suppliers who will be needed to support them in their bids. CIfA will be there, promoting the importance of using accredited professionals and we hope to see a good number of our Registered Organisations represented as well.
