CIfA welcomes the launch of the Archaeology Strategy for Scotland, which was officially announced today at the European Association of Archaeologist’s conference, which is being held in Glasgow.
Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy is a ten-year plan to contribute to the delivery of archaeological aspects of the Historic Environment Strategy for Scotland, as well as supporting the delivery of the National Strategy for Scotland’s Museums and Galleries.
CIfA applauds Historic Scotland and the Scottish Strategic Archaeology Committee for the Strategy, particularly for its inclusive tone and the recognition that archaeology is for everyone, its emphasis on innovation and skills, and recognition that all archaeology is research-driven. The Institute also warmly welcomes the Strategy’s assertion that all archaeologists should be following the CIfA Code of conduct and Standards.
The Institute is keen to play its part in the delivery of the plan over its lifetime and looks forward to opportunities to working with partners towards its implementation.
