The Marine Group (MASIG) is a CIfA Special Interest Group. The role of MASIG is to act as a forum for practising marine archaeologists and to advise the CIfA Advisory Council on issues relevant to underwater sites, inter-tidal and nautical archaeology. The group aims to:
- promote the advancement of marine archaeological practice and individual professional development
- promote greater understanding of marine archaeology within the wider archaeological community through the publication of technical papers and guidance documents
- organise seminars and conferences to act as a forum for the development and maintenance of good practice in matters relating to marine archaeology
The Group has vacancies for Chair, Secretary and Treasurer (open to accredited members of CIfA) and four Ordinary committee members (open to any grade of CIfA membership). Volunteering for CIfA can provide several benefits which include opportunities to

- demonstrate your commitment to your profession
Volunteer opportunities with CIfA are not paid but we do cover the cost of reasonable travel expenses.
