CIfA raises concerns about the operation of permission in principle proposed in the Housing and Planning Bill currently before Parliament. In particular, CIfA, and other bodies in the sector, are concerned about proposals automatically to give permission in principle for housing to sites allocated in local and neighbourhood plans and identified in brownfield registers. Currently, many sites are allocated or identified without all necessary pre-determination archaeological assessment and evaluation on the basis that planning permission will still need to be obtained.
